Ruth Wineinger

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Ruth Allene Wineinger was born April 23, 1922 to Vesta Mae and Charles W. Wilmoth in Miami, Oklahoma. Her family lived in Treece, Kansas. They moved to Webb City, Missouri in 1930. Ruth passed away at the age of 98 on November 11, 2020.

Ruth was one of the original “Rosie the Riveters”. She put rivets inside the wings of the bombers at Boeing. She had to leave school at an early age to help her family.

At 12 years old, she pumped gas to make money. She was proud that she obtained her GED in her 60s. Ruth crammed as much into her 98 years as any person could. She always had a story to tell.

Ruth is survived by her niece and caregiver, Sammi Jo Hewitt (Joplin), niece, Patsy Griggs (St. Joseph), nephew, Charles Hewitt (Tulsa, Ok), and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Wineinger, her parents, her siblings; Harold Wilmoth, Albert Wilmoth, earl Wilmoth, Hazel Hewitt, Lois Shaw, Leona Wilmoth, and nephews Ronald Hewitt and Jim Hewitt.

Memorial Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Oronogo Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory, Joplin, Missouri.
