(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Barbara Katherine Grant, 78, of Joplin, Missouri passed away on July 7, 2021.
Barbara was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late Elmer Brock and Evelyn Kautzer Brock on May 6, 1943.
She grew up in California, with a childhood in Long Beach, St. Vincent’s Nursing School in Los Angeles, and the start of her nursing career in San Francisco.
She married the late Jack F. Grant, and they lived in Burlingame, California where their son Jack E. Grant was born.
After several years there, they moved to Joplin, Missouri where the family currently resides.
She loved and took pride, and spent her happiest moments with her family on the farm, and her many years as a registered nurse at St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
She specialized in orthopedics, and is remembered for her dedication to the total joint replacement program. She went above and beyond in her nursing care, and touched the lives of so many.
She is preceded in death by her parents Elmer Brock and Evelyn Kautzer Brock, and her husband Jack F. Grant.
She is survived by her son Jack E. Grant and wife Tonya Grant, and her grandchildren Catherine Grant and Zachary Grant, who were the lights of her life. Her two sisters, Suzanne Brooks and husband Bill Brooks, and Judith Rochford and husband Michael Rochford. Her nephews Bill Brooks, Craig Brooks, and Steve Brooks, and their families.
The family will hold a memorial mass at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Joplin with Rev. J. Friedel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Outreach House in her memory.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
