(From Parker Mortuary)Nicole Mary Taylor Gwartney, age 38, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at her home after a sudden illness.
Nicole was born September 16, 1982 in Emporia, Kansas, and moved to the Joplin area as a child. She grew up attending Webb City and Joplin Schools, and graduated from Joplin High School.
She worked for several restaurants and bars in the Joplin area before leaving for Georgia where among other jobs, she enjoyed being a White River Raft and Adventure Guide. She moved back to Joplin four years ago.
She is survived by her husband, Dustan Gwartney; daughter, Sage Taylor; father, Doran Sedgwick of Lindon, Kansas; mother, Elaine Sedgwick of Joplin; twin brothers, Caleb and Kyle Sedgwick both of Joplin, and brother, Kody Sedgwick also of Joplin; several nieces and nephews, and her special Wombat.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
The family will conduct services at a later date.
