(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Ronald Dean Moorehouse, 82, Joplin, MO, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Joplin, MO. Ron was born June 30, 1939, to the late Andy Moorehouse and Helene (Horton) Moorehouse. Ronald married Ann Orr on July 23, 1966, in Webb City, MO.
Ron spent his career in education. From 1972 until his retirement in 1999, he served as the principal of Carl Junction Junior High School, where he was a kind mentor to innumerable students and made lifelong friendships with teachers and fellow administrators. He was known to many in the community as a man of faith and good humor, a pillar of guidance and support.
Ron was a family man. Married for 55 years to Ann, Ron was a devoted husband, father, and grandparent. No life challenge passed without his calm support, and no family member ever left the house before he had checked the oil in the car and wiped down the windshield.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; daughter Amy Moorehouse of Nashville, TN; daughter Kathy Moorehouse (Jan Franklin) of Charlotte, NC; son Brett Moorehouse (Jennifer) of St. Louis, MO; brothers Larry Moorehouse (Patty) and Ray “Moose” Moorehouse, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Penny Coates, and brother Robert Moorehouse.
A memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Joplin. The family kindly asks anyone attending to bring a face mask.
