(From Parker Mortuary)Patricia Ann “Patty” Smiley, 76, of Joplin, Missouri passed away Monday, August 16, 2021.
Patty was born December 2, 1944 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Estelle L. and Juanita B. (Kelly) McClanahan. She was a lifetime resident of Joplin, graduating from Joplin High School in 1962. For many years, Patty was an account manager for Fleming Foods.
Patty was united in marriage to Lawrence Smiley on December 20, 1963 in Joplin, Missouri. Together they shared over 57 precious years together before her passing.
Family was very special to Patty. She made it a point to make everyone feel welcome and her children’s friends would even call her grandma. She was an amazing cook and at all the holidays would make her special potato salad. Patty had an encouraging and uplifting spirit and was always there for those she loved. She was the glue that held the family together. After suffering a stroke, she found new ways to communicate with those she loved, they all knew exactly what she wanted when she told them “Bingo-Bingo”. Patty cherished the time spent and memories created with her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandson, family, and friends. To know Patty was to love her, and she will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Patty was also preceded in death by a son, Danny Leland Smiley; a grandson Ethan Suye’ta Smiley; sisters, Norma Campbell, Carol “Deanie” Skelton.
Patty is lovingly survived by her husband, Lawrence; son, David Roy Smiley and wife, Jan; grandchildren, Karissa Dan Smiley, Brock Cooper Smiley and Kamryn Grace Smiley; great grandson, Valor Hirsh; sister, Karen Eubanks and husband, Johnny; brother-in-law, Junior Skelton; together with many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. followed by Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Forest Park Baptist Church on 7th and Rangeline Road with Pastor John Swadley officiating.
