Shirley Thrasher

Shirley Jean Thrasher, 73, of Pierce City, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

She began her journey on June 2, 1948 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, born to the late John and Anna Belle (Seybert) McCurley. 

She married John Thrasher on April 8, 1969 in Noel, Missouri. 








She worked in Geophysics at the Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; also, in Bartlesville she was a hairdresser for 17 years and later, was one of the top salesmen for the Big Nickel in Lanagan, Missouri. Shirley enjoyed going to church and had a puppet ministry. She was an accomplished singer, pianist and also played the accordion. Shirley loved ministering and never met a stranger.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Thrasher and a sister, Debbie Snider.

She is survived by her children, Johnny Brooks (Maggie) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Debbie Jordan of Pierce City, Missouri, Kathi Calton (Jamie Leeper) of Neosho, Missouri; siblings, Anna Mae Wilke of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Johnny McCurley of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Paul Ortiz of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ashley Nichols, Amanda Calton, Kelon Robbins, Dakota Brooks, Morgan Brooks. Johnny Brooks, Jr., Elizabeth Brooks, Ronnah Brooks, Isiah Brooks, Faith Reed and Destiny Reed; great grandchildren, Emma Calton, Daisy Nichols and Olivia Nichols; along with a host if other family and friends who will dearly miss Shirley.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 10:30 am at the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri. Paul Ortiz will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 10:00 am.
