James Miller

James Alton Miller, age 78, of Granby, Missouri, entered into rest at 7:53 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at his home.

He was born April 19, 1943, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, the son of the late Tommie D. and Effie (McGinty) Miller.

James graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1961. He attended Holmes County Community College lettering in tennis and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Delta State University. 








James was a U.S. Army/Air Force Veteran and served during the Vietnam Era. He was an ordained Assembly of God minister and attended Abundant Life Church in Neosho, Missouri. James loved to learn; he was an avid reader and enjoyed reading and writing poetry.

Survivors include one son Warren “D.” Miller of Cocoa Beach, Florida; one daughter, Jena Boyce and her husband, Kevin, of Nixa, Missouri; one sister, Betty Wilson-Bray of Titusville, Florida; two grandchildren, Kullen and Kolton Boyce; one great-grandson, Walker Boyce; and the mother of his children, Emily Marks.

The Clark Funeral Home in Granby has held local arrangements. James will be laid to rest at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City, Mississippi, at a later date.
