Lola Drury

(From Weng Funeral Chapel)

Lola B. Kaderly Smith Drury

In the early morning of Sunday, August 22, 2021, as our mother drew her last earthly breath, there was a joyous reunion, as she began her eternity in the presence of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. With very heavy hearts we mourn our deep loss, but we rejoice greatly in her heavenly reward.

Lola was born on April 24th, 1939 to Bert and Hattie (Lewis) Kaderly in Barton County, MO, growing up in the Golden City area on their family farm, where they fished and hunted.

She married Richard Smith on March 27, 1956, he preceded her in death on January 22, 1973. They had 6 children they raised in Jasper, MO where Lola would reside the rest of her life. She retired from the Jasper County Sheriff's Department as a commissioned deputy after 24 years of service.

Lola enjoyed spending time with family, playing mother/daughter softball with her daughters in their younger years and league bowling; even having a team of 5 that consisted of her and her four daughters at one point. Lola enjoyed going to the lake in years past, having coffee at Judy's with her twin sister and best friend Lois, and playing bingo.

She was a longtime member of Jasper Christian Church, her family's "church home". Her children were by far her proudest accomplishment, something she did not hesitate to tell you, and grandchildren just added to that joy.

Lola was also preceded in death by her second husband, Don Drury on January 21,1993, her firstborn child, Diane Smelser on July 5, 1996, both parents, and her siblings. Lola is survived by her daughter Lola Wilhelm, Carthage; daughter Lois Yust and her husband Neil, Carthage; son Mike Smith, Jasper; son Steve Smith and his wife Misha, Jasper; daughter Rhonda Tiller, Carthage; sixteen grandchildren, Matt Smelser, Sarah Dwyer, Aaron Wilhelm, Jacob Wilhelm, Luke McWilliams, Ashley Nichols, Hannah Yust, Hunter Yust, Abbie Hasselquist, Kathryn Woodall, Payton Smith, Regan Smith, Gage Tiller, Katey Miller, Kiley Williams, and Gannon Tiller: and thirteen great grandchildren.

Service will be Saturday, August 28th at 10am at Jasper Christian Church, Minister Eric Dwyer officiating. Pallbearers will be her eight grandsons. Interment will follow at Waters Cemetery.

“Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain”. Phil. 1:20-21
