David Wetzel

Mr. David Allen Wetzel, 65 of Southwest City, Missouri departed this life on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at his home after a courageous battle with Inclusive Body Myositis.

David was born January 28, 1956 in Noel, Missouri to the late Claude and Ruby Lea (Drake) Wetzel. David grew up around Jay, OK and Southwest City, Missouri. 










On April 8, 1977 in Miami, OK he was united in marriage to Cheryl Baker. In 1992 David and Cheryl started Wetzel Tank Company, later they purchased Cornerstone Station. 

David was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting deer and elk. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses as well as spending time on his farm, He considered driving a tractor pure enjoyment, his way to relax. He was a fan of OU Football and the Kansas City Chiefs. 

 David was a very strong and hardworking man and despite being diagnosed with Inclusive Body Myositis 13 years ago, he still showed up for work every day until the very end. He was devoted to his family and made many sacrifices to provide for them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

David was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren Mason and Jayce Gibe.

David is survived by his wife of 44 years Cheryl Wetzel, two sons; David Allen Wetzel, Jr. of Grove, OK and Zack Wetzel and wife Amanda of Jay, OK, three daughters; Natasha Hollenback and husband Jimmie, Alisha Gibe and husband Jason and Shayla Barnes and husband Bill all of Jay, OK. Two sisters; Diana Bates and Donna Blake and husband Rick of Southwest City, 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. David Allen Wetzel will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Missouri with Pastor Ricky Williams officiating. His grandchildren will honor his life by serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday August 26, 2021 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Ozark funeral home in Southwest City, Missouri. In lieu of flower the family asks that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House in care of the funeral home.
