(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Ervin Lee Wilson age 75 of Joplin, MO passed away on August 23, 2021 from complications of diabetes.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Kay Wilson and survived by two children from a previous marriage, Curtis G. Wilson, Christy G. Wilson and their mother Betty J. Wilson, plus members of both of his wife’s families.
Ervin was born to Clarence and Ivohn (Albright) Wilson on October 9, 1945 in Joplin, MO and was raised in Webb City, MO. He graduated from Webb City High School in 1963. During his lifetime he served in the Missouri National Guard, The Army Reserve, U.S. Army, Navy Reserve, and U.S. Navy, for a total service of twenty five years with his last active duty in the Persian Gulf during Operation Ernst Will (oil tanker escort operation) and was a member of the American Legion, Missouri Post 1000.
In 1995 he graduated from Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield, Missouri with an Associates Degree in Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts, and worked at several restaurants and country clubs in the Joplin Area, then Freeman Hospital in the Nutrition Department until health forced him to retire.

After retirement as health permitted Ervin taught as a substitute teacher for the Joplin School District, and worked on a number of committees for the city of Joplin to including The ADA Committee, Board of Adjustment, Board of Building Appeals, and The Traffic Commission. He was also a past member of the Webb City Elks Lodge and the Ozark Area Chef’s Association. He attended Mt. Hope Church of Christ.
A graveside service will be held at Ozark Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 27, a visitation will be held at Mason-Woodard Mortuary 1:00 pm Friday. Memorial contributions should be made out to The American Diabetes Association Arrangements in care of Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
