Joy Spears

(From Parker Mortuary)

Joy Lane (Gamma) Spears, age 57, Neosho, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Freeman West.

Joy was born and raised in Borger and Victoria, Texas, and moved to Neosho in 1981. I know this is the part you normally talk about where she attended school and work, but those weren’t the highlights of her life. The highlights of her life were her three children, Jody, Heather, and Dusty; her two granddaughters Sunshine (Adalyn) and Munchkin (Peyton) who could do no wrong and adored her every bit as much as she did them. Her three grandpups- Bella, Case, and Millie. She loved her daddy, NASCAR, Dallas Cowboys, her home state of Texas, and her family and friends.

She also enjoyed her time spent with her daughter Heather on nail days. Watching the Quints with her granddaughters. Cooking and baking-if you ever tasted anything that came out of her kitchen you know how great she was at cooking- along with doing craft projects. Pup sitting, game attending-from soccer to basketball, softball, cheer, and dance recitals. She loved her son, the one that was able to calm the storms in her life. We could tell her 100 times not to do something, but he only had to tell her once.

She was met at the gates of heaven by her daughter, Jody, her mother, Renee Gardner, and brother, James Wilson Libby, and although that was her hardest reality to deal with on earth, that was her first highlight of Heaven.

Survivors include her children, Heather Shipers and husband Caleb, Dusty Spears and wife Casey all of Neosho; father, Dusty Libby and wife Janet of Victoria, Texas; granddaughters, Adalyn “Sunshine” Spears, and Peyton “Munchkin” Spears both of Neosho.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Lampo Center, 534 E Spring St., Neosho, MO 64850.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
