(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Benjamin Ray Behler (Ben) passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO.
Ben was born April 14, 1976 in Austin Texas to Lawrence and Ruth Behler.
In 2001 he married the love of his life Jodie Brown. Ben and Jodie Behler. From this union they had 3 children, Alyssa Anderson, Austin and Cody Behler. In 2008 the Behler family moved from Prairie Grove, Arkansas to Diamond, MO where they still reside. All three children graduated from Diamond High School and though they were proud, Ben and Jodie’s love of family didn’t stop there. The Behlers welcomed other children into their home over the years. Their extended family include Justin McGough, Trenton Odom and Allyson Brouillard-Sillivan.
Ben was a Christian and a firm believer in God. He and his family attended church on a regular basis. He liked to coach sports and help young people hone their skills. One of Ben Behler’s favorite things to do was enjoy the nature God created. Weekend float trips on the Buffalo River, cave exploration, hiking, camping, fishing and overall experiencing the great outdoors with friends and family.
He served in the United States Army from 1994 to 1998 where he was stationed in Germany, deployed to Bosnia and got to travel to France the Netherlands and various other countries. On his military journey, Ben met Mick Rodgers, who became a lifelong friend.
Ben was proud of his armed forces experience and pleased when his son Cody was sworn into the Marines only days before Ben’s passing. His son Austin made Ben’s pride swell when he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and learn the automotive industry and Ben enjoyed working with his oldest boy. He was proud his daughter Alyssa graduated after three and a half years of college with her registered medical assent degree and pleased to find out she intends to continue taking classes to get her degree in history.
Ben was preceded in death by his grandfather Don Constance, his uncle Terry, his older brother JR and his mother Ruth Holmes.
He is survived by his wife Jodie Behler, daughter Alyissa, son’s Austin and Cody of Diamond MO, his father Larry Behler and wife Cathy of Webberville, TX, his grandmother Fran Constance of Buda, TX, aunts Tammy and Susan also of Texas and many nieces and nephews, plus in laws Don Kirk and wife Susan, bonus parents Sharon Holmes and husband Dennis.
