(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Lucille Bernice Spor, 96 years old, went home to her Lord and Savior on August 26, 2021 as the sun was rising on the farm where she had lived for 79 years. She died at home surrounded by her family. Lucille was born on January 15, 1925 in Bentonville, Arkansas. She was daughter of (late) Reverend Ed Nelson and Maine (Henry) Nelson.
On December 25, 1941, she married Floyd A. Spor in Carthage, Missouri. Together they lived on a farm South of Carthage, raising cattle and crops. She was a homemaker and a farm wife. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ward (Andy) of Carthage, Missouri; one grandson, Greg Easson (Tammie) Carthage, Missouri; two great-grandsons, Zach Easson and Tyler Easson, both of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews and friends.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She loved to cook, can, and she always raised a garden. She loved to make apple butter in the fall. Some of her favorite hobbies were sewing, crocheting, and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Spor; her parents, Ed and Maine Nelson; one sister, Pauline Nelson; and one brother Edwin Nelson.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The family wishes to thank all family and many friends for their help, prayers, and kindness during mom’s declining health. Also, special thank you to Avalon Hospice for their care and love of her and the family.
A graveside service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2021at Diamond Cemetery in Diamond, Missouri where she will be laid to rest. Melvin Stapp of Monark Southern Baptist Church will conduct services.
