Charlie Donohue

William “Charlie” Donohue, age 73, formerly of Grove, OK, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin after a long illness.

Charlie was born on November 11, 1949, to Daniel and Ruth (Rucker) Donohue in Joplin, MO. His family later moved to Grove, where Charlie graduated from high school, Ridgerunner Class of 1968. Following graduation, Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.







After his time in the service, Charlie had several occupations, working on the pipeline for awhile and later running The Mill liquor store and most recently working at a funeral home in Jay.

On February 14, 2011, Charlie married the love of his life, Tammy Geer.

Before Charlie’s health began to fail, he enjoyed canoe trips and grilling steaks with his family. One of Charlie’s talents was bringing people together, whether it was for a family get together or planning an event. Charlie invented the “Easter Beer Hunt” that was held at 43 bridge and he was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.








Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, David, Patrick and James Donohue.

Left to cherish his memory, wife, Tammy Donohue of Seneca, Mo; children: Darius Donohue (Kelly) of Tulsa, Ok, Kristina Donohue of Grove, Kelly Odle of Fairland, Tracii Odle of Afton, Monica Whitson of Grove and Eva Miller of Sarasota, FL; brothers, Timothy Donohue (Paula) of Baldwin, KS and Guy Donohue (Chaz) of Tulsa, Ok and 8 grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 5-7pm Thursday, August 10, and funeral services will be at 11am Friday, August 11, 2023, both at Nichols-Stephens Funeral & Cremation Services.
