(From Knell Mortuary)Jesus Salas Rivas, 79, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Monday evening, August 7, 2023, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, Missouri. Jesus was born October 18, 1943, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, the son of the late Modesto Salsas and Christina Rivas.
He married Maria Garcia on April 16, 1971, in Carthage, Missouri. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Carthage, Missouri. Jesus was a hard worker, working many different jobs as a general laborer. He loved working on cars, was a sports enthusiast, especially boxing, but most of all, loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Maria G. Salas; five sons, Jesus Salas, Macario Salas, Jose Salas, Modesto Salas, and Edward Salas; three daughters, Maria Salas, Matilda Salas, and Emma Monsivais; one brother; one sister; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, and a sister.
Visitation and rosary will be held from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Carthage. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, August 10, 2023, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. The graveside service will follow mass at 12:00 pm in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
