David Hamilton

David L. Hamilton died peacefully at his home on the morning of Thursday, August 3, 2023.

Please treasure the good times that he shared with us.

“He cannot come again to me, but I will go to him.”

David was born in Springfield, Missouri, on January 29, 1947. He was a proud graduate of Parkview High School, Southwest Missouri State University, and Central Michigan University. 








In 1969, he married the love of his life, Nichol, with whom he was married for 54 years. He lived most of his life in Springfield or Carthage, where he raised his family and was an active member of numerous civic organizations.

Golfing, tennis, and sailing were highlights of his active life.

David served in the Marine Corps Reserves and began his professional career with Missouri Probation and Parole where he worked for over 23 years, ultimately leading the office. He then sought out new challenges working as an Investigator for the United States Public Defender’s Office in Springfield.

His life’s journey with Christ began at Boulevard Baptist Church in Springfield, and then continued at 1st and Calvary Presbyterian, Carthage United Methodist, St. James Episcopal Church, and St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Rockport, TX.

David is survived by his wife, Nichol; sons, Garrick(Katie) and Seth; grandchildren, Kellen, Ainsley, Carrigan, and Parker; brother, Robert(Paula); brother-in-law, Woody(Carol); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Earl Hamilton.








Services will be Friday, August 11, 2023, 11 am, at St. James Episcopal Church in Springfield, MO.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. James Episcopal Church in Springfield, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Rockport, TX, or to Ozark Greenways.
