(From Parker Mortuary)George Edward Brown, age 87, Joplin, formerly from California, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023 in Joplin.
George was born July 31, 1936 in Anadarko, OK, son of the late Henry Edward “Ed” Corley and Inez Lou (Pierce) Corley. He grew up in California and worked in home construction all his adult life.
He was the owner and operator of G.E.B. Construction. He enjoyed raising his bird dogs, mainly Champion Brittany Spaniels, and loved taking them to dog shows. He loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also very proud of his 45-year sobriety. AA Meetings changed his life, and he was a sponsor to many over the years.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Robinson) Brown, a son, Troy Brown; son-in-law, Albert Palmer; and a granddaughter, Danielle Field.
Survivors include his daughters, Glenda Palmer of Joplin, Sammie Merwin of Cheyenne, OK, and Debbie Wiggins of TX; grandchildren, Michael Brown, Chrisopher Leyda, Sunshine Leyda, Christina Brown, Ashley Brown, Levi Brown, and Colton McNess; 21 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from Noon to 2:00 p.m. at 1800 E. 30th St., Joplin, MO.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
