Lennie Gillock

Edward “Lennie” Lynn Gillock, age 73, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.

Lennie, born on December 10, 1949, in Southwest City, was the only son of Leonard and Hazel (Campbell) Gillock. He grew up in Joplin and was a graduate of Joplin High School. Soon after, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country honorably. After returning to the Joplin area, he was united in marriage to Connie Brand on March 24, 1973, in Joplin, where she survives.





 

Lennie was a graduate of Vatterott College earning his associate degree in AutoCAD Drafting and Design. He was employed in construction, having last worked for PLJBD Architecture in Joplin until his retirement. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking, building, fishing, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He especially enjoyed time spent with his granddaughters and great-grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Gillock, of Joplin; two children, Christopher Allen Gillock, of Joplin, and Cynthia Ideker, and her husband, Joseph, of Joplin; two grandchildren, Caleese Ideker, and Jesse Ideker; and one great grandson, Floyd Adamson.







Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the Sarcoxie Cemetery in Sarcoxie. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, August 9th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Baptist Church and may be entrusted to the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
