Elaine Cunningham

Elaine Mary Cunningham of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born February 23, 1956, in Chicago to Frank and Lorraine (Houlihan) Cunningham, Elaine moved to Sarcoxie as a child and lived on her family’s farm throughout her life, where she developed a great love for animals. A proud graduate of the Sarcoxie High School class of 1973, she built many lifelong friendships with colleagues during the time she worked at Big Smith and FAG Bearing.





 

Elaine had a heart for people, and she found her calling as a nursing home and hospice caregiver, first at Sarcoxie’s Royce Manor and later in home health. She was loved by a large network of family and friends across the country, and she was known for staying in close touch and keeping up with everyone’s life events.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her sister, Jean Roycroft, and husband, John, of Naples, Florida; brother, Patrick Cunningham, and wife, Bonnie, of Two Rivers, Wisconsin; brother, Dan Cunningham, and wife, Jenny, of Oklahoma City; as well as eight nieces and nephews, their children and countless dear friends.






 

Her life will be celebrated by her family and friends at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Sarcoxie Cemetery with Pastor Chris Jackson officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Paul Miller, Steven Velten, Mike Heman, Larry Hall, Dale Conway and Keith Bond. Honorary pallbearers will be John Roycroft, Sean Roycroft, Josh Cunningham and Luke Reese. 

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in her honor are welcome to the Sarcoxie Community Foundation or Sarcoxie High School, music or athletic department in care of the funeral home.
