(From Lakin Funeral Home)Helen Marie Mettlach, age 98, of Pierce City, MO passed away, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Lacoba in Monett, MO. She was born in Pierce City, MO on Saturday, February 7, 1925; daughter of Louis and Grace (Gollhofer) Mettlach.
Helen Marie graduated from Pierce City High School. She worked many years as an AT&T telephone operator and as a seamstress for the Merchant Factory in Pierce City. She had a green thumb and liked to garden. She enjoyed "tea towel'n" and other crafts.
Helen Marie was a devout Catholic. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was a member of the PCCW, sang in the choir, cooked for dinners, and helped with benevolent projects. She was happy, friendly, and had a smile on her face. Helen Marie was always involved with her children. She attended all their school activities, often riding the bus when they were out of town and sat in the car waiting during their practices. Her family was her world!
Surviving are the following: two daughters, Julia "Julie" (Mike) James and LaDonna (Gordon) Hill all of Rogers, AR; three grandchildren, Austin James, Cole (and fiancé, Kennedy) James, and Sara (Wyatt) Kinnamon; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Grayson Kinnamon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Helen Marie was welcomed to heaven by her parents, Louis and Grace Mettlach, and five siblings, George Mettlach, Wilma Szydloski, Clara Mae O'Hara, Ernestine Kennedy, and Rosalee Mettlach.
Rosary services will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 3:00 PM followed by visitation to celebrate her life from 3:30 - 5:00 PM at the church.
Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on Monday, January 8, 2024, beginning at 10:00 AM with Father Paul Pudhota officiating. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery in Sarcoxie, MO. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
