(From Clark Funeral Home)Jerry Dean Sams, age 79 of Neosho, Missouri, entered into rest on January 12, 2024, after a short illness.
Jerry was born on January 9, 1945, in Leon, Iowa, the son of Jerald and Argel (Wells) Sams. He had lived in Kansas City, Missouri and had worked at Ford Motor and Fisher Body.
In 1969, he and his family relocated to Neosho, where he worked at La-Z-Boy Midwest for 26 years and also for Ray Ruark Plumbing.
After retirement, he worked at various odd jobs independently. He loved his family and spending time with them. Jerry could fix anything and took pride in what he did. He was a car enthusiast and an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan.
On November 15, 1963, in Easton, Missouri, Jerry and Norma Jo (Jeffries) were united in marriage and Nora survives.
In addition to his wife of sixty years, Jerry is survived by two sons, Jerald Sams of Joplin and Bob Sams of Neosho; grandchildren, Christopher, Thomas, Emily and Chelsea; three brothers and one sister.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Ruark.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 4 pm at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Following the service, the family will receive friends until 6 pm.
