Betty M. Howard age 86 of Joplin passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital.
She was born on May 30, 1931 in McDonald County, Missouri to Duddley Mitchell and Bertha (Johnson) Mitchell. She worked at Boyer’s Processing, Newman’s, and also Wal-Mart. Betty lived in the Galesburg, Missouri community for 33 years.
She married R. Warren Howard on December 3, 1949 in Joplin, Missouri and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1989. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; stepdad, Clarence Goff and stepmother, Wanda Mitchell; a son, Gerald D. Howard on May 27, 2014; 4 sisters, and 4 brothers. She is survived by her son, Harold Howard and his spouse Wes Harris of Ardmore, Oklahoma; sisters, Clara Keeter of Watts, Oklahoma, Carolyn Duncan of Watts, Oklahoma; brothers, Donnie Mitchell of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and Roy Mitchell of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; grandsons, Shelby Howard and wife Lindsey of Joplin, Missouri, Stacy Howard and wife Alanna of Joplin, Missouri; Shawn Howard of Joplin, Missouri; great granddaughters, Jodie, and Carlie of Joplin, Missouri; great grandson, Dalton of Joplin, Missouri; great granddaughter, Aleah of Joplin, Missouri; sister, Hazel Landsaw of Joplin, Missouri; sister in law, Kay Goff of Joplin, Missouri; sister, Joann Phillips of Joplin, Missouri; and a brother, Tedd Goff of Boyd, Texas. The family would like to give a special thanks to Gay Bentley, Connie Earnest and Susie Wilson for the loving care they provided for Betty.
The family will be present for a visitation on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 2:30 PM in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
