Mrs. Twyla Marie Russell, 92, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after a brief illness.
Twyla entered this life on September 4, 1925, in Gove, Kansas, one of seven children born to the late Elliott and Laura Ethel (Barker) Reardon. Her formative years were spent in Missouri and Kansas. On December 6, 1940, in Goodman, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Gene Madison Russell and to this union a son and daughter were born. After Gene was honorably discharged from the Army, they relocated their family to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1946. Twyla retired as head bookkeeper for a family grocery chain in Kansas City. Gene passed away on October 14, 2001 after sixty years of marriage. Twyla was a very loving and caring lady. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, working crossword puzzles and researching family genealogy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Audean Kaiser; a grandson, Mike Kaiser; four brothers and two sisters.
Twyla is survived by one son; Jim Russell of Joplin, Missouri; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Russell are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in the Goodman chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Mr. Woody Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery in Goodman. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Jim Russell, Shawn Cooper and Woody Moore.
