Joseph “Joe” Melvin Franklin, 77, of Neosho, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Joe entered this life on May 20, 1941 in Sarcoxie, Missouri, to the union of the late Albert and Mary (Griffith) Franklin. His formative years were in Neosho, Missouri. Joe met Brenda Schillinger in Pleasant Hill, Missouri and six months later on August 2, 1968 they were united in marriage, sharing forty nine years together. For more than thirty six years he and Brenda raised their family in Linwood, Kansas. Joe was employed forty years as an electrician, retiring in 2003 and retuned back home to Neosho, Missouri. He was a fifty year member of local 124. He enjoyed camping, working in his barn as well as spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Logan Clear; sisters, Alma Tanner, Lela Jennings and Vera Fleener.
Joe is survived by his wife, Brenda, of the home; his children, Deanna Olsen and husband, Kurt of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Laura Pfeifer and husband, Jeff, of Neosho, Missouri, Jason Franklin and wife, Rachel of St. Petersburg, Florida and Heather Clear and husband, Johnny, of Olathe, Kansas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Veda Wead of Neosho, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Franklin are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Cave Springs Cemetery with Pastors Darrell Brannen and Vic Taylor officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Johnnie Clear, Richard Pogue, Joshua Olsen, Nicholas Pfeifer, Jason Franklin and Kurt Olsen..
