Elmer L. Schnelle, 91, formerly of Kimberling City, MO, was living at Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation in Lockwood, MO, where he passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018. He was surrounded by his family and God’s angels at the time of his passing.
Mr. Schnelle was born 24 August 1926 to William and Electa Schnelle. He married Ruth J. Guy Jan 14, 1950 in Springfield, IL. She preceded him in death along with a daughter, Lisa Ingram; grandson, Jason Williams; his parents; three sisters; and one brother.
He is survived by two sons, David (Janice) Schnelle of Springfield, MO and Mark (Marianne)Schnelle of Springfield, MO; a daughter, Janice Mettlach of Sarcoxie, Mo; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a brother, Paul (Joan) Schnelle of Carthage, MO; a sister in law, Nancy (Ulrich) Klabunde of West Chester, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Elmer served his Lord as a minister in the Lutheran Missouri Synod Church for 54 years in the states of Arkansas, Illinois, and Missouri. His hobbies were fishing and watching his St. Louis Cardinal Baseball team on TV. He loved having family get togethers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Meinert. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
