Virginia Miller

Virginia Grace (Byrd) Miller of Webb City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 12:34 pm at Webb City Health and Rehab.

Born on August 16, 1932 in Webb City, Mo., she was the daughter of Frank and Lois Byrd.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she achieved the status, and honors from Bishops, as the oldest living member of the original Sacred Heart Church. She was an avid bridge player, achieving the rank of Life Master. She loved to travel and spent time in all 50 states and numerous countries. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved the beautiful flower gardens in her yard.

She was a 1950 graduate of Webb City High School and went on to graduate from Joplin Cosmetology School. Shortly after graduation she opened and operated her own beauty shop until her retirement in 1978 when she moved her home from Carterville back to Webb City.

On November 19, 1954, she married the love of her life, Carl Miller of Carterville, Mo. He proceeded her in death, August 3, 2001.

Survivors include two daughters, Carlanda Martinez and husband, David of Independence, Ks., Kim Sill and husband, Mark of Branson, Mo., one son, Carl L. Miller of Webb City. Five grandchildren, Stephanie Crawford and John, Autumn Price and Danny, Peter Edwards, Rebecca Edwards Painter and Brandon, and Mark Sill Jr., and Melissa, and 11 great-great grandchildren. A brother, Bill Byrd of Webb City, and a sister-in-law of Carthage, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Barbara Curry and Wanda Waynick. Two brothers, Frank Byrd and Phillip Byrd.



Funeral services will be at 10 am Friday May 18, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Rahab Isidor officiating. Internment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home.
