Gerald James “Chewy” Fields, age 45, passed away at 6:18 am, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at his home following an illness.
Gerald was born December 16, 1972 in Joplin, MO. His parents were Larry James Fields and Barbara June (Hall) Fields. He was a lifetime resident of Galena.
He was working as a lead man at PBI Gordon, Galena, KS. He was a director of Spring River Boat and Ski Club and had coached the Hotshots girls softball team. Among his hobbies were hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Gerald was married to Carol Jean Kerley on October 7, 1994 in Miami, OK. She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Hailey Fields, Joplin, MO and Brittany Flowers, Galena; two grandchildren, Gunnar Fields and Addison Eakes; four brothers, Russell Sanders (wife, Sherry), Galena, Keith Sanders (wife, Goldie), Lawton, KS, Stephen Sanders (wife, Beverly), Morehead, KY, and Kenny Sanders, Crain, MO; two sisters, Cindy Nolan (husband, Paul), Galena and his twin, Oleta Natalini (husband, Steve), Scammon, KS; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Phillip Fields.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS. Mike Huffman will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 -7:00 pm, Friday, May 25, 2018 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
