(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)
Mr. Loren Haslip, age 87, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin following a short illness.
Loren was born at the family farmhouse on January 16, 1931, in Christopher, Missouri, to the union of the late Albert and Vina (Arterberry) Haslip. He attended school in Christopher and his upbringing in the country brought about his love for hunting and fishing. On July 13, 1953, he married the love of his life, Wanda Moore, and together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage before her passing on April 29, 2017. Loren and Wanda resided in Neosho for a short time before moving to Yakima, Washington, where Loren worked for United Builders during his masonry apprenticeship. Upon completion, he and Wanda made their way to Joplin and made their forever home here. Loren succeeded as a brick mason and worked for several companies, including Hodkin Masonry Construction in Carthage, Branco Enterprises in Neosho and Bob Scott Construction in Joplin throughout his career. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Joplin. Loren will be remembered as a loveable man and a true gentleman—always caring for his beloved wife and his son, Denny, as well as his nieces and nephews that meant so much to him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; his parents; four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his son, Dennis Bridges, and his wife, Laura, of Joplin; as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
