Mr. Fred Lee Zornes, Sr., 79, Powell, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, in the comfort of his home after months of declining health.
Fred entered this life on April 30, 1939, in Iola, Kansas, born to the union of the late Aca Walter and Bonnie (Rearrick) Zornes. Fred has lived most of his life in McDonald County. On January 2, 1972, he was united in marriage to Sherry Ellison and together they have shared the last forty-six years. Throughout his life he was a self-employed carpenter and also did pest control. He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was Baptized in 2011. Fred was a talented craftsman who enjoyed metal and woodworking projects.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Tammie Madewell and Tracie Harmon; and a brother, Floyd Ewing.
Fred is survived by his wife, Sherry Zornes of the home; six children, Timmie Zornes of Cassville, Missouri, Terrie Zornes and wife, Kathy, also of Cassville, Shane Wheatley and wife, Robyn, of Ozark, Missouri, Jeremy Wheatley and wife, Angela, of Clever, Missouri, Tanya Lyles and husband, Larry, of Eureka Springs, Arkansas and Freddie Zornes, Jr. and wife, Heather, of Powell, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; a brother, Buddy Zornes of Powell; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Zornes will be held graveside on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Tracy Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri, with Chaplain Roger Hasselquist officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Terrie Zornes, Shane Wheatley, Jeremy Wheatley, Freddie Zornes, Larry Lyles and T.J. Zornes. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
