Joanne R. Gehrt, 86, Neosho, MO passed away at home, May 9, 2018 with family at her side.
Joanne was born September 9, 1931 in Stephenville, TX to Arlin and Jewell (Cox) Robbins. She was a graduate of Stephenville High School and Texas Tech University. Joanne was known for her artistic painting abilities. She enjoyed interacting with her community while owning and operating Jody’s Attic. Although she battled Rheumatoid Arthritis from the age of 17, she was a beloved mother, wife and business woman.
Joanne married Earl Gehrt on December 22, 1957 and he survives of the home. Also surviving are four children: Stan Gehrt, Hilliard, OH, Susan (Chris) Galemore, Chanute, KS, Julie (Mike) Holec, Plano, TX and Diane (Jeff) Burghart, Neosho, MO; one sister: Martha Robbins, Arlington, TX; 9 grandchildren: Lisa Gehrt, John Gehrt, Nicole Galemore, Lauren Galemore, Zach Holec, Kade Holec, Garrett Burghart, Connor Burghart, and Claire Burghart. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Jake Galemore.
Services will be held at 11 am, Mon., May 14, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Chanute, KS, with Rev. James Schnackenberg officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 Sunday evening at Countryside Funeral Home, N. Forest Ave., Chanute, KS.
