Norma Jean Brewer, age 83, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Freeman Hospital West after a decline in health.
Norma was born February 26, 1935, in Potosi, Missouri, to the late Perry and Maude (Minx) Sloan. She was a Joplin resident for the last 16 years and enjoyed playing Bingo around the area. Norma made her life as a homemaker and dedicated her life to raising her children and caring for their every need. Norma’s love for her family was infinite, as was their love for her. She was the most loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her life truly revolved around her family. She will never be forgotten and will be missed beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings; and three grandchildren, Rich Slimp, Krystal Frisbee and Nathan Slimp.
Survivors include her children, Craig Brewer (Glenda) of Park Hills, Missouri, Lonnie Brewer (Carol) of De Soto, Missouri, Sherry Davison (Richard) of Avon, New York, Michael Brewer of Park Hills, Kathy Benfield (Dennis) of Joplin, Stephen Brewer of Marble Hill, Missouri, Brenda Bolin (Scott) of Joplin and Christopher Brewer of Cameron, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin with Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
