Janet W. Rife, 89, Carthage, MO, passed away early Monday morning, May 7, 2018 at her home. Janet W. Wyman was born April 2, 1929 in Bentonville, AR to the late Charles Edward Wyman and Juanita (Dickinson) Wyman. She graduated from Bentonville High School, Class of 1947. She then attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO for one year. Janet married Dale Rife on October 14, 1949 in Bentonville, AR; he preceded her in death on December 24, 2008. She worked as a Civil Service Clerk for Carthage Water & Electric Plant for 23 years. Janet was a member of bridge clubs, Breast Cancer Recovery, Red Cross, and the McCune Brooks Auxiliary. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage.
Survivors include two sons, Mayor Dan Rife (Teresa), Carthage, MO, and David Rife, Carthage, MO; two grandchildren, Jacob Michael Rife and Bobby Baker; and one great grandchild, Makenna Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
Visitation will be held 6-7 pm, Thursday, May 10, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, Carthage. Memorial services will be held 2 pm, Friday, May 11, 2018 at First United Methodist Church. Rev. James Lee will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in care of Knell Mortuary.
