Fredrick Leon (Fred) Buckner, 84, Nevada, MO passed away suddenly at his home in Nevada on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Fred was born August 11, 1933 in Richards, MO to George W. and Addie May (Ellifrits) Buckner. He married Clara Hamlett on March 19, 1964 and she preceded him in death on August 20, 1999.
Fred served in the National Guard from 1952 – 1954. He worked at Joe Adams Distributing in Nevada for many years until the business closed, and also at McDonald’s for several years.
He is survived by three daughters, Connie Grant and her husband Phil, Wichita, KS, Chrystal Anson, Nevada, Gail Alan, Joplin; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Evertt Buckner and his wife Mary Jane, Nevada, Raymond Buckner and his wife Mary, Sheldon, Stanley Buckner and his wife Linda, Lawrence, KS. He was preceded in death by four sisters, (infant) Elly Buckner, Dorothy Buckner, Erma Allen, Betty Buckner, and one brother, James Buckner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery, Richards, MO. The family will receive friends from 4-5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Vernon County Cancer Relief in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
