Merle Van Norvell, age 82, Webb City, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.
He was born February 29, 1936 in Carterville, to the late John Norvell and Myrtle Bailey Norvell.
He worked for Cardinal Scales as a painter, Joplin School District in the janitorial department and at Montgomery Real Estate as a handyman.
Merle was known as a very hard worker and very talented. He could build or fix anything. He shared most of his knowledge with his daughter. The hardest thing he did was to see his only daughter deploy to Iraq. His favorite past time was fishing with Cassie. He loved going to garage sales and working on cars. He was an avid animal lover.
Merle married Rose Ellen Roach in Joplin on November 23, 1968. She survives at the home.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; one daughter, Sharon Norvell- Arner, Webb City; and one granddaughter, Cassandra (Cassie) Hendricks and husband Joshua, Longview, Texas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Neblett and Lela Friend and his beloved canine companion Lexi.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
