Colleen Carpenter, age 88, Alba, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 at her home.
Colleen was born March 26, 1930 in West Seneca, Oklahoma to the late Clifford DuShane and Lillian Choteau DuShane and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.
Colleen was an elder of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, volunteer and past president of the OATS program. She was also crowned Senior Powwow Princess in 2009. Colleen was a faithful member of Alba Christian Church. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include a son, Clifford Carpenter and wife Connie, Joplin; a daughter, Melinda Lorenz and husband Randy, Wyandotte, Oklahoma; a brother, George DuShane, Joplin; grandchildren, Melissa Anderson and husband William, Chris Irwin, Becky Marney and husband Danny, Bridget Spencer, Angela Carpenter, Andrew Carpenter, Crystal Friedman and husband Chris, Alysha Lorenz, Britany Clark and husband Mikel; 21 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Colleen was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy and a son, David.
Services are planned for Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alba Christian Church Building Fund, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
