Donna Lee Doss, age 89, Joplin, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at a local nursing facility.
Donna was born July 19, 1929 in Joplin, daughter of the late James T. "Jack" Brashear and Mary L. "Lola" Turner Brashear. Her family moved to St. Louis when she was 7 years old, and she returned to Joplin at the age of 17. She graduated from Joplin Senior High School in 1948, and worked as a telephone operator for some time, and later worked for LaBarge for over 26 years before retiring in 1993.
She was an active member of Forest Park Baptist Church where she enjoyed working with Vacation Bible School which she did for years, was a proud member of the First Impression Team, and enjoyed singing with the Senior Choir. She loved all of God's creation, especially stray dogs, cats, and birds- which she fed on a regular basis.
In addition to her parents Jack and Lola, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny E. Doss who passed away on October 31, 1985, and a sister, Peggy Sheets.
Survivors include her children: Lee Doss and wife Rochelle of Joplin, Ralph Doss and wife LeaAnn of Webb City, Pam Stansberry and husband Bill of Joplin, Larry Doss and wife Karen of Nixa, Missouri,; grandchildren, Ryan Doss and wife Ashley, April Orange and husband Dustin, Chad Doss, Kyle Doss and wife Shanon, Matt Doss, Shauna Germiniani and husband Le, Shea Stansberry, Skylan Stansberry, Michael Doss and wife Aisha, and Randi Doss; great-grandchildren, Adyn, Kyler, Case, Luca, Mila, and Phoenix; sister, Betty Miller of Joplin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Monday, August 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park Baptist Church Worship Center with Dr. John Swadley officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Gardens Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Sunday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Forest Park Baptist Church.
