Dallas Vida (Davis) Goodman, age 101, formerly of Schell City, MO passed from this life on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Joe Clark Residential Care Center in Nevada, MO.
Dallas was born September 9, 1917 in Riverdale, NE to George Edward and Nellie Ernestine (Magoon) Davis. On August 9, 1935 she was united in marriage to Thomas “Jack” Franklin Goodman at the Courthouse in Nevada and he preceded her in death in 1977.
In 1931 Dallas moved along with her family to Schell City where she attended Schell City High School. She became a member of Schell City Christian Church that same year and was baptized in the Osage River by the Old River Bridge. Dallas attended church there her entire life and was the Sunday School Secretary for over 50 years. Following her marriage to Jack they made their home on a farm West of Schell City where she resided until moving into the Senior Housing in Schell City in 2004. She served as the Fall Festival Grand Marshal in 2005, was a member of the Ladies Aide, attended Senior Clubhouse Dinners each month, and later enjoyed riding the OATS bus to El Dorado Springs where they would eat a meal together, play cards/games and buy groceries. Dallas also enjoyed gardening, and quilting. Through the years she gave the gift of a handmade baby quilt to many, many church members.
Survivors include three children, Garry Thomas Goodman, Neosho, MO, Patricia Ann Rhoades and her husband Paul, Kingsville, MO, Jean Elaine Watson, Schell City; grandchildren, Diane Irene Cox (Kevin), Jeffrey Dallas Rhoades (Paula), Scott Allen Goodman, Darren Wendell Goodman (Dana), Amy Lynne Austin (Chris), Melissa Dawn Watson (Matt Burke), Matthew Marcus Watson; great-grandchildren, Justin Dallas Rhoades, Emily Ann Rhoades, Tricia Diane Cox, Brian Dean Cox, Jennifer Michelle Rhoades, Jessica Lynn Rhoades, Mariah Shay Goodman, Makaela Rae Carrey, Bryce Thomas Austin, Dominique Austin, Angus Goodman Burke; one granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Rhoades; brother-in-law, Rex Goodman, Nevada; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husband Thomas, she was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Thomas Ervin Rhoades; one great-grandson, James Derek Rhoades; siblings, Dorothy, Marion, Verna, George, Harry, Jean E., and Robert.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Schell City Christian Church with Pastor Jeff Rhoades officiating. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery, Schell City. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Friends may call from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, September 15 and 16, 2018 at Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, Schell City, MO.
Memorials are suggested in her memory to Ozark Christian College or Schell City Christian Church in c/o Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City.
