David Lee Ellsworth, age 71, of Jenkins, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 23rd, 2018 at his home.
He was born December 12, 1946, in Canton, Illinois the son of Wilma Ellsworth. He married Debby Burns on May 12, 1970 in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Christopher David Ellsworth and his wife Sara, of Joplin, Missouri; four grandchildren, Elaina Warren of Greenville, South Carolina, Alexa Ruddick, Lily Ellsworth and Brady Ellsworth, all of Joplin, Missouri, an aunt, Bonnie (Bernard) Fayhee of Prairie City, IL and many treasured cousins.
Preceding him in death were his mother and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dave attended Lewistown High School in Lewistown, Illinois, where he lettered in many sports and was president of his class. He graduated in 1965. He resided in Joplin, Missouri with his wife and son before relocating to the farm in Jenkins, Missouri in 1984. He owned and operated the Cedar Crest Lumberyard for many years. He enjoyed following and supporting local high school basketball, including radio commentary for games. He was especially pleased to have watched the Crane Lady Pirates win 3 consecutive Missouri High School state championships. He enjoyed spending as much time as possible at Table Rock Lake riding his many jet skis, boats or just hanging out with friends and family on the dock.
Dave never lost his Illinois roots, and visited friends and family there as often as he could. He was a friend to many for miles in every direction and will be greatly missed.
The family will hold a service at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
