Harold Schnelle

(From Lockwood Funeral Chapel)

Harold Loren Schnelle, 93 years old, of Lockwood, MO, passed away September 26th, 2018 in his home surrounded by family and his wife of 45 years Jean Schnelle. Harold led a full and long life on the family farm. He was born on October, 8th, 1924 to Walter and Clara (Buente) Schnelle. Harold attended Sunnyside and Zion Lutheran School in Meinert, Mo and graduated from Lockwood High School in 1942. He was baptized October 26th, 1924 and confirmed April 10th, 1938 at Zion Lutheran Church. He later joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood actively serving on the finance committee, on the building committee when the church was built and as an elder.

On May 12th, 1951 Harold married Evelyn (Kleiboeker) Schnelle and they were blessed with 5 children. On February 28th, 1972 Evelyn was called to her heavenly home.

On September 15th, 1973 Harold was united in marriage to Jean (Davis Hall) Schnelle. They were blessed by the birth of 1 son and he gained 3 additional sons by marriage.

Harold’s passion was farming. He dedicated hours of service to his community and served as president of the board for the MFA in Lockwood for many years. He loved watching his crops and cattle grow. He was a man that believed in a strong work ethic that he passed on to his children. It was in those hours spent with him on the farm that molded all of us into who we are today. For that we will all be forever grateful.

Many of Harold’s happiest moments were watching his grandchildren play ball (and win!), four wheeling with the family, feeding the cattle and afternoons on the lake. Family trips were often sparked by a rain storm leaving only moments to get suitcases packed and loaded. His children knew that if he held a different opinion from them he would often say “You must know” and we all knew what that meant! He loved telling stories from the early days of Dade County, told to him by his grandfather, which he would share on Sunday afternoon drives. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Harold is survived by Jean Schnelle, his wife, and children Kent (Donna) Schnelle, Elaine (David) Coose, Greg (Germaine) Hall, Mark (Sue) Hall, Jane (Steve) Mayden, Joyce (Bob) Torris, Keith (Tammy) Hall, Dwight (Amanda) Schnelle.

His grandchildren are Emily (Michael) Counts, Lacy Schnelle, Audrey Schnelle, Blake (Cheyenne) Schnelle, Shawn (Breean) Watson, Tammie (Rick) Gastel, Jeremy (Deserie) Coose, Jason (Carmen) Coose, Justin Coose, Jessica (Matt) Thompson, Kolin (Cris) Hall, Lauren (Adam) Murphy, Michael Hall, Kyle (Whitney) Mayden, Stefany (Craig) Hastings, Chance Mayden, Graham Torris, Max Schnelle and Henry Schnelle.

He is also survived by 33 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law Doris Schnelle and Earlene Johnson, 2 brothers-in-law Lorn Kleiboeker and LaVerne Davis and legions of nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Clara Schnelle, his wife Evelyn Schnelle, his son Alan Schnelle and his brother Melbert Schnelle.
