Floyd E. “Gene” Sharp, age 71 of Carterville, Missouri passed away Sunday September 23, 2018 following a short illness.
He was born January 31, 1947 in Joplin, Missouri to Glenn and Delores (Hensley) Sharp
Gene served in the United States Air Force. After serving his country he worked as a machine operator for Coca-Cola. He graduated from Carterville High School in 1965. Gene enjoyed metal detecting, music and doing yard work.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gene is survived by, two son, Preston Sharp and wife Amanda, Webb City, Missouri, Jason Sharp, Webb City, Missouri; one daughter Jodie Sharp, Webb City, Missouri; one brother, Gary Sharp and wife Walene, Carterville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Michael, Kayla, Joey, Matthew, Ethan, Tristan, and Ava, as well numerous extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday September 26, 2018 at the Carterville Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends 12:00 (noon) to 1:30 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
