Jack DeGraffenreid

Jack DeGraffenreid, formerly of Carl Junction, passed away September 14, 2018.

 Jack was born in 1937 in Hockerville, Oklahoma, one of ten children born to Bud and Bessie DeGraffenreid. 

 Jack enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1957 and while stationed in Alexandria, Louisiana met his future wife, Cecilia Elizabeth Gravel. They were happily married for 54 years until Elizabeth’s death. Jack started his forty plus year employment with Empire District Electric, in the mailroom and retired as superintendent of the Asbury Generating Station. 

 Jack is survived by his only child, Jim DeGraffenreid, daughter-in-law Julie, granddaughters Mary and Grace DeGraffenreid of Phoenix, Arizona and by two brothers, two sisters and many nieces and nephews Jack was a devoted husband and loving father and brother. Jack loved children, cardigan sweaters and finding a spring, brook or other place to enjoy with his son. 

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 5:00 PM at Simpson Funeral Home with visitation continuing after the Rosary until 6:30 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Webb City. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sacred Heart Church in Webb City, Missouri or to the Royal and Ray Dean DeGraffenreid Scholarship at Webb City High School.
