Gladys Friend

Gladys Francis Friend, 86, Neosho, entered into rest peacefully at her home with her family at her side following a two month illness.

 Gladys was born March 4, 1932 in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Freddie O. and Georgia B. (Dean) Lett. She moved to Neosho in 1993 from Goodman and had worked as a child care giver and as a gate attendant for the Corp of Engineers. She had been active in the Relay for Life, Neosho Area Widow to Widow; she enjoyed crocheting, her grandchildren, cooking and was an avid bible student. She was a founding member of the Neosho Community Chapel and had taught Sunday school. 

Gladys married Harvey Everett Friend, Jr. on April 21, 1953 in Tooele City, Utah and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1996. She is survived by three sons, Steve Friend and wife, Pat of Goodman; Mike Friend of Goodman and Ronnie Friend and wife, CarlAnn of Neosho; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and one on the way. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Dale Lett and a sister, Geneva Ann Mills. 

 Funeral services for Gladys will be held on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 at 10 am at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Ernest Friend and Clifford Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery, Anderson, MO. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation Thursday evening from 6 to 7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
