Jerry Lee Wilson, of Lockwood, MO, departed this life on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, in his home at the age of 88 years.
He was born on January 15, 1930 in rural Elliott, IA to George Scott and Millie (Dumler) Wilson. Jerry served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a proud sailor who served aboard the USS New Jersey. Jerry was united in marriage to Dorothy Conner on December 31, 1955 in Carson, IA. He worked in the insurance industry throughout his life. In 1961, while working for Farmer’s Mutual Insurance as a Crop Field Adjuster, he was transferred to Lockwood, MO. Jerry was an avid gardener. He was known for his tomatoes and his beautiful roses. Jerry was a member of the Lockwood United Methodist Church and the American Legion.
Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Millie Wilson; and his sister, Ramona Stevenson.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wilson of the home; his daughter, Ginger McDonald and husband Milt of Lockwood, MO; two granddaughters, Kristin Wise of Lamar, MO and Kara Overton of O’Fallon, MO; and three great-grandchildren, Emily Bowman, Ethan Bowman, and Lexi Overton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018, in the Lockwood United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Lockwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. until service time in the church.
