Noel Gouldsmith

Noel Jesse Gouldsmith, Jr., age 92, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Cassville, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at National Health Care in Joplin.

He was born June 11, 1926 in Independence, Missouri the son of Noel Jesse Gouldsmith, Sr. and Pearl (Thomas) Gouldsmith. On August 23, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Bellfy who preceded him in death on September 4, 2014. Also preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Marie Randall and Ellen Gaughran.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Joy Perusich and her husband, Michael of Joplin, Missouri and Connie Wulff of Independence, Missouri; one son, David Gouldsmith and his wife Marlene of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Lawrence D. Gouldsmith and his wife JoAnn of Johnson County, Kansas and Ronald L. Gouldsmith of Independence, Missouri; two sisters, Deloris Rondomanski and her husband Timothy and Glenna Hunter all of Independence, Missouri; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Noel received his education in Independence, Missouri where he graduated from high school. During World War II he served in the United States Army from November 22, 1944 until August 28, 1946. After the service he was employed with Bendix Corporation as a processing engineer from which he retired. He later moved to Cassville, remaining here until moving to Joplin to be with his daughter. One of his favorite hobbies was model airplanes and he also piloted airplanes out of Cassville airport. His love for his family was very important to him and he wanted that to continue.

Burial will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
