Rhonda Hignite, 62, of Pea Ridge, died Sunday, September 16th, surrounded by her family at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville.
She was born December 15, 1955 in Springdale Arkansas, to Bill and Edith Long. She graduated from Springdale High School and went on to graduate from Job Corp of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She worked for years at Walmart Returns Warehouse, before retiring to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She and her husband Steve Hignite were married December of 1977, sharing forty years of marriage.
Rhonda loved to watch her grandkids play sports and play boardgames with them at her home. She enjoyed gardening and reading, especially westerns. She had a wonderful wit that would bring humor to any situation. You would often see her and her husband taking scenic drives, just enjoying each other’s company and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Pea Ridge.
Rhonda is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Edith Long, a infant son, Michael; three brothers, Dennis Long, Richard Long, and Scott Long, and one sister, Janice Diaz.
She is survived by her husband Steve Hignite of the home, her son Justin (Taina) Hignite of Seligman and their children (Colton, Hayley, Helena); her daughter, Robin (Justin) Ferris of Pea Ridge and their children (Dalton, Justin Jr., and Malachi); one brother, David Long of Lincoln; four sisters, Mollie Hignite of Pineville, Sue Griffith of Pineville, Polly Green of Oklahoma City and Cathy Coleman of Maryland. Rhonda also leaves many nieces, nephews, in-laws, aunts, uncles, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Service is set for 10 A.M. Friday, September 21 at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Pea Ridge with Pastor Bobby Shockley officiating. Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Thursday night at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pea Ridge Cemetery.
