Jerry Jobes

Jerry Dane Jobes, 75 of Pittsburg, KS died September 27, 2018 at the Oak View Estates in Frontenac, KS.

He was born December 20, 1942 in Parkersburg, WV, the son of Ordon and Florence (Huffman) Jobes. 

In 1969 he was united in marriage to Barbara L. Skidmore in Miami, OK; she preceded him in death in 2013.

He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves for 4 years. 

Jerry worked as a mechanical engineer for McNally Industries for 20 years.

He was an organizer of the McNally Employees Reunion and a member of the North McDonalds Morning Coffee Club and the American Legion Post 43, and he was a graduate of the Pittsburg Police Citizens Academy.

Jerry was an avid Pitt State fan, going to nearly every sporting event they played. After retirement he enrolled at PSU and attained a degree in woodworking.

Survivors include two sons: Mark (Julie) Engle of Frontenac, KS and Kelly (Angie) Jobes of Joplin, MO, two daughters: Kathy Newman of Springfield, MO, and Amy (Barry) Carl of North Platt, NE; two brothers Roger (Linda) Jobes of Parkersburg, WV and Bill Jobes of LaRue, OH; a sister Carol Crawford of Columbus, OH; along with 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter Tamie Engle.

Graveside services will be 1 pm, Monday October 1st, 2018 at the Sheffield Cemetery in rural Arcadia, KS. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery for the services. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Memorials may be made to the Legion Post 43; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
