Phyllis E. Battin, age 76, Asbury, Missouri, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, September 23, 2018 at her home after an illness.
Phyllis was born December 24, 1941 in Carl Junction to the late Earl Miller and Mildred Mosher Miller and was an area resident all of her life.
A homemaker, Phyllis attended school in Carl Junction and graduated in 1959. She was voted football homecoming queen and was escorted by Ray Battin, whom she married a year later in 1960.
Phyllis loved the outdoors. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. Phyllis worked at Ozark Nursery for over eight years, where she enjoyed being around the very things she loved. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She married Ray Battin in Carl Junction in 1960. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Jeffrey Battin, Joplin; a grandson, Joshua Stockam, Oregon; and a brother, Mike Miller, Joplin.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristi Kay Stockam.
Services are planned for Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate. Interment will follow at Carl Junction Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
