George William Giger, 95, Lamar, MO passed away on September 23, 2018 at Cox Barton County Hospital in Lamar following a brief illness. George was born August 17, 1923 in Irwin, MO to Grover Marion and Theo Charlotte (Riddle) Giger. He married Nora Mae Jones on December 23, 1956.
George was raised in Barton County. He served in the United States Army for two years during WWII and also the Korean War. Following his time in the service he returned home to the Irwin area where he farmed and raised cattle nearly all of his life. He also drove fertilizer trucks for MFA in Irwin. George lived most of his life in the Irwin area.
Survivors include one sister, Ethel White, Moran, KS; one brother, Marion Giger and his wife Leila, Irwin, MO; special granddaughter, Jennifer Garringer, El Dorado Springs, MO; and he was great-grandpa to Trevyn and Tayah. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Thelma Owen.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Sheldon Cemetery with Rev. Jerod Lamb officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
Memorials are suggested to the Sheldon Cemetery in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
