Marvin Clayton, age 75, of Purdy, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Mr. Clayton, son of Loyd and Rosie (Childress) Clayton, was born on March 17, 1943, at the family farm in Purdy. He was a lifelong resident of Purdy where he raised cattle, worked on the farm, and enjoyed all its beauty. He was united in marriage to Loretta Boyd; she preceded him in death on October 8, 2007. Mr. Clayton loved to work and was always busy; he was a very well-known logger who had a reputation for always treating people fairly and leaving a job well done. He also enjoyed cooking, had an outstanding garden, and loved his grandchildren dearly. Mr. Clayton was a friend to many and will greatly be missed.
Survivors include his daughter, Stella Allen and her husband Eathen, of Stella; five grandchildren, Corey Clayton and his wife Kelsey, of Monett, Dakota Clayton, of Aurora, and Eathen Allen, Maggie Allen and Sally Allen, all of Stella; his daughter in-law, Dora Clayton, of Aurora; three brothers, J.D. Johnson, of Joplin, Wayne Clayton, of Purdy, and Jerry Clayton, of Youngstown, Florida; two sisters, Linda Day and Janie Roberts, both of Corinth, Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Allen Clayton in 2017; one daughter, Robin Clayton in 1974; one brother, Cecil Clayton; and three sisters, Carolyn Dorsey, Marcine Shockley, and Ruby Holland.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Arnhart Cemetery in Purdy, with Pastor Charles Brock officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research in memory of Marvin and entrusted to the White Funeral Home and Crematory, P.O. Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
Service arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home and Crematory, Cassville, Missouri.
