Betty Ensor

Betty Jean Alfrey Ensor of Neosho, Missouri was born September 5, 1923 to James E. Wallace and Hester Ollie (Hurst) Wallace. She passed into eternal life on July 31, 2019.

On April 1, 1942 she married Floyd L. Guest, and from that union two children were born. In September of 1967, she married Chester K. Alfrey and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1993. 

On August 15, 1995 she married Allan D. Ensor in Joplin, Missouri and he preceded her in death on December 8, 2013. Betty loved playing gospel music on the piano and was self-taught. She played for the Northside Baptist Church for several years and enjoyed playing and singing at family gatherings. She became a Christian at an early age. Early in life, she held membership at Northside Baptist Church in Neosho. After she married Allan, she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Joplin, where she attended for several years. In 2015, Betty returned to Northside Baptist Church where she enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday School Class and worshipped until her passing.

Throughout her working career, she enjoyed retail and bookkeeping. She worked for Penney’s, Bellas Hess, Ragland Feed Mill and retired from Al’s Gas. Most recently, she always looked forward to enjoying a trip or special activity organized by Gran Villas, where she lived in Neosho. 

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the Gran Villa Family for their special care of Betty. Betty loved people and could always strike up a conversation with anyone. She enjoyed going to Branson and Silver Dollar City with her family and Red Hat Sisters. She was so much fun and always the life of the party. Her love, joy and laughter will always remain in our hearts. 








Betty was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Forrest Wallace, Glen Wallace and James Wallace and four sisters, Christine Waggoner, Hazel Ledford Belka, Margaret Record and Yonavie Hierholzer. 

She is survived by her six children, Mike Guest and wife, Carol, Sharon (Guest) Daugherty and husband, Steve, all of Neosho; Valarie (Alfrey) Smith and husband, Jim of Mexico, Robert (Bob) Ensor and wife, Rebecca of Joplin, Allan Dale Ensor and Terry Ensor. Four grandchildren, April (Guest) Hoover and husband, Bill, Carson Guest and wife, Tracy, Steven Daugherty and wife, Nikki, Michael Daugherty and wife, Amy. Eight grandchildren Emily and Cameron Hoover, Brooke Guest, Naomi, Lydia, Steven Parker, Josiah and Eli Daugherty. 

At Betty’s request a Celebration of Her Life will be held on Sunday, August 4th at 2 pm at the Northside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, officiated by Pastor Steven Daugherty. Contributions in memory of Betty may be made to the activity fund at Gran Villa’s, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850.
